North Carolina A&T’s Lewis Walker named CAA Rookie of the Week

North Carolina A&T forward Lewis Walker was the CAA Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Walker averaged 20.0 points on 60% shooting from the field and 94.1% from the free-throw line in helping the Aggies split a pair of contests. Against the College of Charleston, Walker scored 16 points on a very efficient 5-9 shooting and 6-7 from the charity stripe. He helped the Aggies put up a valiant effort, trimming a 23-point second-half deficit to just 4 points, but ultimately the Aggies would fall to the Cougars, 74-61.

The redshirt freshman would follow that solid outing with a 24-point, 4 rebound effort on 7-11 from the floor and a perfect 10-10 from the foul line as A&T handily defeated Elon, 102-82.

This marks Walker’s fourth time on the season garnering Rookie of the Week, including claiming the honors in consecutive weeks, as he earned the ROTW for the week of February 16.
